Song writing and recording as a full-time pursuit is a recent venture for Gordon Ward Fahey. He is first and foremost, a husband and father to 3 children. Fahey says, "I needed a sure and stable income in order to fulfill my responsibility to family" and "music was mostly a hobby that I thoroughly enjoyed on the side." Now in the second half of his life Fahey has determined to give back some of the benefit of his experiences through music and song. Fahey received numerous scholarships throughout college to participate in both concert choirs and select vocal ensembles. He was raised in the Conservative Holiness movement and has been a gifted soloist in various congregations since boyhood. Says Fahey, "those early experiences were indeed seminal and certainly inspired my current love of gospel music and the old hymns, but that early affection for worship music has grown deeper through the years as my relationship with God has grown. It comes more from the heart now I think. Christian music in general and gospel in particular is more than a demographic or genre in music, it's a lifestyle of thanksgiving and praise. It's about giving God the glory for everything, the good and ... well.... the not so good". A veteran of the U.S. Navy and former sergeant in the Army National Guard, Fahey has a deep love of both God and country. After graduating from college, Fahey has worked mostly in juvenile corrections as a counselor to troubled youth. "I can relate to those young men and women who seem a little lost and are hurting for some stability in their life. A deep, committed, personal relationship with God is what they need, they just don't understand what that involves. As a singer/songwriter my primary goal is to explain those dynamics the best I can and to convince the listener that it is something real and not made-up fantasy". Some major musical influences throughout Fahey's life have included Neil Young, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, and Dan Fogelberg. Fahey comments that "I mostly sing Christian and Gospel music now, however I cannot put aside the influences that have shaped my style over the years. Like it or not, the music you listen to will leave an indelible mark on your soul and that is primarily why I try to always keep it positive, both the songs I write and those that I listen to in my personal life".
